Baby Sea Turtles

Today John, Jack and I flew to Mexico to meet up with John's brother and my sister-in-law. We are staying in this really cool resort two hours away from Cancun. Right outside our resort there seemed to be an issue with the government and it appeared that there was a riot or something. We were not even sure if we were going to be able to get into the resort since they blocked it off. Fortunately they moved the road blocks and let us in.

Once we got settled into the house we are staying in on the beach we went down to the beach to check out the sea turtle nests. While we were out there we noticed that they were hatching so we helped them go to the sea. They got a little confused since they were attracted to the lights on the house. It was a very cool experience since they are endangered. There are a few more nests out there so I guess we will keep an eye on them tomorrow. We are worried that someone might steal the turtles or the eggs.

Trip to Memphis

I've just returned from our first trip of the summer. We went to Memphis to visit the family and to see my sister-in-laws new baby. He sure is cute but he loves to stay up at night and feed every two hours or so. I remember those days with Jack. Its just a part of being a baby. There sure was a lot of family tension there. Maybe two weeks is to long to spend with relatives. I really enjoyed hanging out at the pool with my sister-in-law. She is pretty funny and we have so much in common.

THE DARK NIGHT

While I was in Memphis, I went to see this movie. I thought it was really good. I love the special effects and it seemed pretty intense. I give it *****.

STEP BROTHER

Another Will Farrel movie. It was pretty funny and a silly sort of way. I give this one ****.

I quite my Job last week.

Yes, you heard me right. I just walked out after having a meeting with my supervisor. Apparently a co-worker of mine really doesn't like working with me. The feeling is mutual. She is a big complainer. All of a sudden I was surrounded my complainers and the place just got real negative. It’s hard to sit in a negative environment for 8 hours a day. They would complain about stupid things like other co-workers or little stupid problems that are solvable on projects. Part of the problem is that they do not understand what we do. Not once did I complain back so I was very surprised when I thought I was up for a annual review and a raise and then all of a sudden there was a problem. So, I just walked out because I felt I was being setup since the company has had little business in the past 6 months.

Not only that, I just dumped about $3500 on new computer equipment and updated software that the company could not afford to provide me. On top of that, they promised to send me to a conference once a year as part of my compensation and that never happened. They kept telling me that we didn't meet our revenue goals. I even supplied a second computer so my department could access the shared drives from home so we could work late at night. I loved that company and was so dedicated to it and I feel like I was treated so unfairly. It is really disappointing to me and I feel pretty hurt. Oh well, I guess I will go to the pool and work on my tan now.

Next week I will be in Memphis for two weeks and then Cancun for another two weeks.

Bill Viola: Video and Sound Artist

Check out this video. It is long but there are some really incredible effects gong on in it. It is really fun to watch the movement of the water and the reflections that appear there. It appears that this video goes on for hours. Its just incredible!

Pixar movie Wall-E

This weekend we figured that we would take our 4 year old to go see this movie. I was pretty excited since it was a Pixar movie. Usually they produce really good movies but I left feeling that it wasn't their best work. Maybe it is a movie that has to grow on you with time. Kind of like Kill Bill. Ha! Thats a funny comparison. Anyway, I guess I was disappointed since they jumped on the "Green" ban wagon basically. Don't get me wrong. I really like the idea behind being green but I can't stand that now it is basically a sell out maneuver.

HBO ran a George Carlin's comedy marathon yesterday. He sure is talented and I find it amazing how consistent his material is. He carries content over from one show to the next as if he was having a conversation with his audience. It also amazes me how after all the many years he was a stand up comic that he didn't change his opinion about anything from his previous routines. That part seemed questionable to me. I think the best part of his routines was when he would dissect what certain phrases mean. That was hysterical. The guy was an expert with language.

Today I added a link to my Pandora stations. I just bought some songs on Itunes from "TV on the Radio", "Laika" and "Bon Iver."
